With the right setup, fresh herbs can be a year-round pursuit, even in the midst of winter. In this session, you'll learn some simple tips for creating a small (or large) herb-growing space in your home, including insights on lighting, soil, containers, and seeds. We'll also cover growing herbs as microgreens, which can add a fun twist to your indoor gardening efforts.

11:30 a.m. ~ Kathleen Wildwood

Herbal First Aid

Kathleen Wildwood - Herbal First Aid

Our yards and gardens are surprisingly full of green allies to help us with wounds, burns, sprains, and other injuries. Join herbalist Kathleen Wildwood as she shares information about local herbs and how they can be used as first aid, including a demonstration using fresh plants. She will also reveal which remedies she carries in her personal first aid kit, and why.

How it All Began
In 1983 the Madison Herb Society sponsored the first Herb Faire at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in order to educate the public about herbs and raise money to further the activities of the organization. The Annual Herb Faire continues its tradition of offering members of the Society and the general public an opportunity to learn about the culture and use of herbs. Each year the addition of new events broaden the scope of learning experiences for all who attend. Enjoy a fun-filled, day-long fair with herb demonstrations, herbal food, and the sale of a wide variety of herb products from cookbooks to wreaths.

Please give back to the Herb Society by working on the day of the faire and bringing a donation to sell at the booth.
